About the role
The purpose of the role is to provide administrative support to the Accounts Payable Officer with a focus on timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, statements and resolving queries. The role will also assist in updating the desk instructions.
Role duties and responsibilities
The Accounts Payable Support volunteer will be responsible for the following activities:
Processing of prepared invoices into SAGE (the accounting system)
Contacting suppliers for various reasons (invoice copies and statements etc)
Filing away of documents and other duties, as assigned
Updating the desk instructions
Other tasks as agreed
Skills and experience required
To be successful in this role, the volunteer will possess the following necessary skills and attributes:
Proficiency and experience in general accounts support / data entry roles (payable, receivable etc.)
Experience using Microsoft Excel
Attention to detail
Analytical skills a must
Regular and reliable in attendance
Self-driven with a confident “can-do” disposition, must be willing to work hard and handle higher processing volumes, when needed
Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality
Training and support
The volunteer will be provided the following core skills and on-the-job training and support:
Demonstrate the use of relevant software.
Instruction on appropriate Accounts Payable procedures and policies.
Introduction to the team and other stakeholders, as required.
On the job training provided by the Accounts Payable Officer.
